Animal Rights Extremism

Central Idaho is proceeding to ban traveling circuses with animal acts. Why ?

"Students from Sage School provided evidence to support the ordinance."

Fantastic. Sounds like they found a credible source to discriminate against hard working Americans. Did they go farther than Wikipedia ? Or base their "research" on the extremist propaganda of animal rights activists which lie, slander and break federal law to achieve spread of their hate-filled "messages" and achieve their goals of taking away the rights of others ?

Every day animal rights extremists are taking away the rights of Americans. If they don't like something, they are not allowing you to make that choice yourself. They are taking away that right to choose. They do so with slander and libelous propaganda not based on fact but by stereotypes, generalizations and outright lies.

Always remember, animal welfare, not animal rights. Regulation, not bans. Make your own choices based on your own observations and research, not spoon-fed by those who will stop at nothing to attain their goals.

These two girls make me laugh all day with their antics. They have so much energy and never stop. The baby bounces from tiger to tiger always looking for someone to "harass." It has been good for everyone. They were very intrigued by the plethora of Amish horse carriages that passed by the lot all day. They attention never wavered.

As a show that primarily performs two shows in a different town every day, traveling on average sixty miles or less between venues, it is important that set-ups and tear downs are quick, simple and easy but provide the necessary protections and comforts the animals require.

 Great day yesterday. Finished sealing the new floor in the trailer, the baby tiger worked in the wheel with six other tigers for the first time and we had a successful surprise USDA inspection without issue.

Training Lessons

After much distraction from other projects, I finally built a proper T-bar to teach my two year old to sit up. A piece of meat and a word is all it takes ! Eventually the meat will be removed as she transitions to only verbal ( or if necessary tactile ) stimulus. As Casey Cainan said, I won't be embarrassed when the five older cats sit up and she doesn't :)

This girl felt left out that I didn't include her picture as well. We had a beautiful day Sunday, perfect for replacing the floor of the tiger trailer. We only get about 3 days all season without shows or long jumps so it was the perfect opportunity to strip out the old and lay the new aluminum diamond plate. Our 16 hour day ended around 11 pm. Day off ? Yea right :)

Hypocrisy

Today we are in Ste. Genevieve, a town home to a tiger "sanctuary" that harassed our sponsors for several weeks prior to our arrival on Missouri. A quick look at their website tells me you can see their animals "let out" in the morning, take pictures and even help feed their big cats - admission ranges from $10 to $75 a person depending on how much you want to shell out. The Kelly Miller Circus arrived in town this morning offering all of these possibilities ( except feeding the tigers; that should go without saying ). Best of all - it's FREE ! I can't say in was surprised that none of those concerned with the welfare of my animals were on site to "supervise" and ensure my animals were taken care of and treated well. It is a lot easier to sleep in and practice "activism" from behind a computer screen.

It's a gorgeous day, the cats are behaving themselves and I get to spend time with my little sister. Life is good. More family and friends this weekend while KMC is in the St. Louis area !

Began teaching my nine month old to stand still with and come forward in line beside another tiger. We have been leading up to this point for a while, working on these basic behaviors without other distractions. I'm glad to say my two year old, which I trained last year, is the most solid cat to use as a control. Different tactics training her last year but she had a much different personality and learning style.
